AmazingMail.com Realizes Tenfold Network Performance Improvement With Juniper Networks EX-series Ethernet Switches and Secure Services Gateway Firewalls
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Aug 13, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) --
Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:JNPR), the leader in
high-performance networking, today announced that Scottsdale, AZ based
AmazingMail.com, Inc., a leader in advanced direct mail marketing
solutions has deployed the Juniper Networks EX-series Ethernet
switches and Secure Services Gateway (SSG) firewalls to significantly
lower IT costs and simplify network and data center operations. By
replacing the company's incumbent switching and security products with
Juniper high-performance network infrastructure, AmazingMail.com has
increased switching performance tenfold and tripled virtual private
network performance.
"Our recently deployed networking products had quickly proven to
be limited in performance, slow to adapt and costly and complex to
manage, and we knew we needed to proactively simplify our network
architecture to align our network to our rapidly evolving business
requirements," said Larry Prine, lead systems administrator for
AmazingMail.com, Inc. "We were also paying significantly for a service
contract on the network equipment and we weren't realizing the level
of service or return on investment we had been promised. Juniper came
in with a technology and service strategy that made us more efficient,
more profitable and better equipped to deliver the superior level of
customer service that sets us apart in today's fiercely competitive
print-on-demand market."
To compete and win in a fluctuating economic environment,
AmazingMail.com set an operational objective to contain and lower
recurring expenses while maintaining exceptional levels of customer
service. With technology at the core of its business, AmazingMail.com
sought ways to gain greater efficiency across its IT operations. Based
on the recommendations from The I.T. Workshop, a Juniper Networks
Elite J-Partner, AmazingMail.com deployed Juniper Networks EX 4200
series Ethernet switches with Virtual Chassis(TM) technology and
Juniper Networks SSG 320M firewall/VPN appliances in its corporate
data center, and an EX 3200 series fixed-configuration Ethernet switch
and an SSG 140 firewall/VPN in its production print center. The
company also deployed EX 4200 series switches with Virtual Chassis
technology and SSG 320M firewall/VPN's in its corporate headquarters.
"Deploying Juniper's EX-series switches and SSG firewalls has
helped us to achieve and surpass our operational and financial
objectives," said Prine. "We have increased network performance,
simplified operations, and lowered our operational expenses so
significantly that we had enough budget left over to purchase two of
everything ensuring full redundancy of our network infrastructure.
We're realizing an annualized savings of $90,000 (USD) in IT costs,
we've reduced our data center footprint and we've achieved additional
power consumption savings. Now we spend less on building, managing and
maintaining the network, and more on strategic revenue-generating
activities."
AmazingMail.com realized its greatest savings in the data center.
By leveraging the single rack-unit EX 4200 series switches with
Virtual Chassis technology in favor of traditional chassis-based
systems, AmazingMail.com reduced its data center footprint from 15
rack units to four at its greatest point. The company also has the
potential to halve its monthly costs by consolidating from two racks
down to a single rack at its ISP co-location site while achieving
greater throughput, manageability and reliability. The embedded JWeb
software enables AmazingMail.com to perform precise, device-level
management, monitoring and configuration operations from a central
location to help maintain trouble-free operations. The EX-series
switches, powered by JUNOS(R) software, provide AmazingMail.com the
same carrier-class performance and reliability that Juniper brings to
the world's most-demanding service provider networks.
"JUNOS software gave us the simplicity and manageability we
needed," concluded Prine. "Because JUNOS software's feature set is
consistent across Juniper high-performance network infrastructure, we
know that if we do something once with JUNOS, we can replicate it
2,000 times without the burden of learn something new for each
product. JUNOS software makes it much easier to manage our Juniper
network infrastructure. Now we feel like we're in control of our
network rather than the other way around."
"AmazingMail.com offers a prime example of a high-performance
business that views the network as critical to its success, but was
straddled with spending too much time and money on keeping their
network up and running," said Hitesh Sheth, executive vice president
and general manager, Ethernet Platforms Business Group at Juniper
Networks. "With our new EX-series Ethernet switches and SSG firewalls,
AmazingMail.com has successfully lowered cost, complexity and risk and
can now afford to invest more time and resources on innovation that
will enhance customer loyalty and workforce productivity, and more
effectively support their revenue growth and profitability objectives
and enable them to win the race."
