The University of Exeter deploys Juniper's ethernet solution
Aug 01, 2008 (Datamonitor via COMTEX News Network) --
Juniper Networks has announced that The University of Exeter in the UK has deployed its EX-series ethernet switches as well as MX-series ethernet services routers, integrated security gateway firewall/VPN/intrusion prevention platforms and SSL VPN platforms, to upgrade its campus-wide network infrastructure.
According to Juniper Networks, the network infrastructure created by its MX-series and the EX-series running on Junos software, will simplify management and minimize operational cost, enabling the university to provide gigabit-per-second links to its network.
The Juniper Networks SSL VPN platform claims to enable remote users to gain secure access to the network, with web browser-based functionality to enable immediate roll-out for new users. The SL VPN also checks user identity and security status of device before network access is granted.
Roger Snelling, head of networks at The University of Exeter, said: "The proven technology of Juniper's Junos software, a single-source network operating system, combined with the EX-series virtual chassis capability and its ease of integration with other technologies will enable Exeter to deliver high-performance networking to its users."
