New Zealand Service Provider Enhances Broadband Network with Juniper Networks
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Jul 31, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) --
Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:JNPR), the leader in
high-performance networking, today announced that New Zealand service
provider TelstraClear has upgraded its broadband network capacity and
enhanced its service delivery capabilities with Juniper Networks E320
Broadband Services Routers and C-series Controllers. The upgrade
ensures adequate capacity to address TelstraClear's fast-growing
subscriber base and to support its increasingly rich mix of
residential broadband access, business services and other advanced IP
applications. TelstraClear is using the C-series Controllers to manage
service provisioning over a wide array of access types, including
cable and retail and wholesale DSL.
"We previously had multiple teams managing our systems - one for
hardware, another for the operating system software and a third
responsible for network applications. With the Session and Resource
Control solution, a single team manages the entire system," said Peter
Ambrose, manager of Design and Planning, TelstraClear. "We chose the
Juniper solution for its superior subscriber management scalability
and ease of administration. The E320 has excellent subscriber density,
and the C-series--which are a logical upgrade from our existing SDX
deployment--deliver substantial scale with ease of manageability."
This latest upgrade builds upon TelstraClear's existing deployment
of E- and M-series routers and SDX-300 Service Delivery System to
deliver significantly more capacity and increasingly sophisticated
broadband services policy management. The Juniper Networks Session and
Resource Control portfolio is a carrier-grade policy and control
solution that enables modification of network resources in response to
real-time subscriber and application requests to deliver of high value
differentiated services. The Session and Resource Control portfolio
includes the widely deployed SDX-300 Service Delivery System and the
Steel-Belted Radius Service Provider Edition platform, as well as a
family of SRC software modules and the high-performance C-series
Controllers.
The E320 router supports high subscriber density, high system
capacity and high-density Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Ethernet
interfaces, enabling TelstraClear to effectively support the high
bandwidth, large scale demands of next-generation IP-based services.
In the two years since it was introduced, more than 1,600 E320
platforms have been shipped to more than 70 service provider customers
worldwide.
"Policy management is fast becoming a key requirement for
innovative service providers such as TelstraClear as they seek to
monetize their networks by enabling an increasing range of new
services," said Shaun Page, vice president of Australia and New
Zealand for Juniper Networks. "We are pleased to be working with
TelstraClear to provide a high-performance network infrastructure and
policy management solution, which will help accelerate service model
innovation and fuel profitable growth."
