Amazon Spokesman: No New Kindle In 2008
(financialwire.net via COMTEX News Network) --
August 29, 2008 (FinancialWire) -- An Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) (Current Market Cap: US$35.53 Bil.) spokesman has tried to quell rumors of an imminent new version of the company's Kindle ebook reader by saying that another version of the device will not be available until 2009.
According to Craig Berman, Amazon's chief spokesman, there will be no new version of the Kindle this year. Berman added that a new version is possible sometime next year at the earliest, but wouldn't address speculation about the audience for any new device.
The Kindle debuted November 2007 for $399 but Amazon has not disclosed sales figures of the reader.
